NON COEVAL YOUNG MULTIPLE SYSTEMS? On the pairing of protostars and TTauri stars

چکیده
We summarize here the observed properties of “infrared companions” to TTauri stars and argue that their observational properties are identical to those of Class I sources. They may therefore be embedded protostars in a much earlier evolutionary phase than TTauri stars, in which case these multiple systems are significantly non-coeval as opposed to the majority of young binary systems. They would have formed through a different mechanism than core fragmentation. The only distinction between IRCs and Class I sources is that they lie within a few tens of AU of a TTauri star, and so they cannot be at the center of a vast optically thick envelope as is believed to be the case for protostars. We discuss whether systems with an IRC are really candidates for noncoeval multiple systems.

Numerical simulations of protostellar encounters III . Non - coplanar disc - disc encounters
It is expected that an average protostar will undergo at least one impulsive interaction with a neighbouring protostar whilst a large fraction of its mass is still in a massive, extended disc. If protostars are formed individually within a cluster before falling together and interacting, there should be no preferred orientation for such interactions. As star formation within clusters is believe...
متن کاملKeck Adaptive Optics Imaging of Nearby Young Stars: Detection of Close Multiple Systems
Using adaptive optics on the Keck II 10-meter telescope on Mauna Kea, we have surveyed 24 of the nearest young stars known in search of close companions. Our sample includes members of the MBM12 and TWHydrae young associations and the classical TTauri binary UYAurigae in the Taurus star-forming region. We present relative photometry and accurate astrometry for 10 close multiple systems. The mul...
متن کاملEffect of the temperature profile of the accretion disk on the structure of jets and outflows around protostars
Magnetic fields play an important role in creating, driving, and in the evolution of outflows and jets from protostars and accretion disks. On the other hand, the temperature profile of the accretion disks may also affect the structure of the magnetic field and outflows. In this paper, we use the self-similar method in cylindrical coordinates to investigate the effect of the temperature profile...
متن کاملThe Coevality of Young Binary Systems
Multiple star systems are commonly assumed to form coevally; they thus provide the anchor for most calibrations of stellar evolutionary models. In this paper we study the binary population of the Taurus-Auriga association, using the component positions in an HR diagram in order to quantify the frequency and degree of coevality in young binary systems. After identifying and rejecting the systems...
متن کاملMillimeter continuum observations of X-ray selected TTauri stars in Ophiuchus
We present the results of 1.3mm dust continuum observations for a sample of 17 X-ray selected TTauri stars in the Ophiuchus star forming region performed with the MPIfR 7-channel bolometer arraymounted at the IRAM30mMillimeter Radio Telescope. We have detected cold dust emission from 3 of the objects and have derived 3σ upper limits (∼ 21mJy on average) for the remaining objects. These upper li...
